Vienna. After a quick subway ride, we decided to walk to dinner. It was already dark, and the Danube looked beautiful. Amazingly, there are no fences, railings or signs, you’re free to walk right into the river. I guess they expect people to act responsibly, and you’re rewarded with a stunning, unobstructed view. Sadly we have no idea what castle that was across the river, we never got over to that side. As we walked, it was so dark we couldn’t tell if the road continued. Within seconds of stopping to double check the GPS, two lovely women asked us if we needed help. They assured us the path did go through to the restaurant and the area was safe, even without the street lights. They were split on their view of the restaurant, but we were committed to having Indian food so off we went.
